Hi there,
would it be possible to read a differential signal quadrature encoder with RP? I have 5 wires coming from the encoder:
Quad_A_H & Quad_A_L (speed)
Quad_B_H & Quad_B_L (direction)
ground
It's a 4096 ppr (pulses per revolution) and X4 encoding device
Any help is welcome
Thanks,
Ronny
ps congratulations with your nice product!

Re: differential quadrature encoder
Hi Ronny,
I am not abolutely sure if you can connect differential signals directly to the GPIOs, maybe you need to add a converter to 3.3V logic.
Decoding a quadrature signal into a position value or angular velocity or whatever is no problem at all for the Red Pitaya. It can be done in software if you are looking at ~10000 rpm, or in the FPGA if you want to revolve really fast.
Regards
Nils
