After building the updated API, did you replace the original one in /opt/redpitaya/lib with the new one?tried "digital_led_blink" again - still OK - i.e. the (updated) API generally works fine

yes, I did.
In my opinion the application code with the new interface function would not compile successfully if the new librp.so was not there.

Ah, I see, the Makefiles were changed for 0.97.
The Makefiles up to and including 0.96RC3 referenced the librp from the local build (../../lib/) instead of the one that's installed on the system (which lead to much confusion at runtime).
Well, then the problem is different then I thought. I'll have to look into that some more, but I don't know when I'll find the time.
