Classic project fails to work with GUI

Post by JB » Thu Feb 09, 2017 4:17 pm

Hi there,

I am trying to compile the current FPGA code from Github and load it onto the RP without any modification (just for testing the synthesis process). The creation of a classic project works without problems, but when opening the project in Vivado I encounter a critical warning:

[Board 49-56] Problem parsing board file - <path to folder>/RedPitaya/fpga/brd/redpitaya/1.1/board.xml, Invalid xml file <path to folder>/RedPitaya/fpga/brd/redpitaya/1.1/board.xml: unterminated start tag 'parameter'

The lines 186 and 193 seem to be the problem since the end tag is wrong. I corrected this to <parameter name=frequency" value="<value>" /> but Vivado still says that it is unable to parse the file. The same goes for <parameter name=frequency" value="<value>"></parameter>.

I am however able to generate the .bin-file necessary to program the FPGA. But if I do so the GUI applications don't work anymore. My OS version is 0.96-86.

Questions:
1) How do I fix the error with the board file?
2) Shouldn't the applications like PID and oscilloscope still work if I use the classic project and don't change anything?

Thanks in advance
Jonas

Okay, I solved it partly. The generated .bin-file works but I missed the point of using "rw" before loading the file onto the FPGA

But the board file seems to be plain wrong.
