ADC data to DDR ring buffer speed

Post by JohnDobbins » Thu Aug 17, 2017 2:42 pm

All,

I am interested in using the RP as an oscilloscope in single shot mode but with increased memory depth, i.e. the ADC samples are continuously written into a circular buffer in DDR until a stop trigger is received. After this stop trigger the data is available to be read by the PS. Sample depth I require is ~ 10 Msamples.

From looking though the various project threads I get the impression this is possible. I am wondering if someone can say what sample rate can be achieved for two ADCs in this configuration?

Thanks,
John

Hi John,

10MS corresponds to ~39MiB. This should be no problem. Since you don't want to stream it over network continuously, I guess you could go at full speed (125MHz).

Greetings
Jonas
