Running Eco 2.22 and 2.23

Hello,

I don't know how to run one of the new Eco systems 2.22 or 2.23. Both don't show any reaction of booting, just the green LED is bright and the orange one dim. But nothing happens. Maybe it is a similar problem of recognizing the device.
With the old system 1.18 it is partly working -- with the common problems of connection interruptions.

Regards

Dieter

Please check this issue on GitHub. This is the most common problem for OS not working when upgrading from 1.04 to 2.00:

Hello,

I already changed this entry to

STEM_125-14_v1.0

in May 2023. Do I have to change it once again?

Try to refalsh the SD card image again to 2.00-23 and insert it into the Red Pitaya. If the hw_rev is correct, then there should be no problems. For the 2.00-23 OS you will need a 16 GB SD card (the OS takes around 8 GB).

Other than that I, do not see why there would be problems, besides plugging the power into the serial console uUSB port.

If this does not fix the issue, please send me a video of the attempted boot-up to support@redpitaya.com.

Hello RP,

I repeated to write the 2.23 image into a SD card. But this time with Win32diskimager, not with BalenaEtcher. This time everything seems to run, even the VNA starting, so that it is not necessary anymore, to change the card all the time. The calibration procedure I still have to do.

I can remember, that Balena reports an error message, but I don't remember, what kind of. But maybe this was the problem of not booting with this.

Best regards

Dieter

Hi Bulova,

I can report that while developing the latest versions of ecosystems I mostly used Ubuntu's default "Disks" utility (gnome-disk-utility) and it always flashed the SD card successfully. (if that information is of any use to you :) )

Hello,

I have to report, that there are some strange things that happened. With the 2.00-23 I still wanted to test the WiFi connection capability. But I was not able to get any connection with the WiFi dongle alone. (I copied my wpa_supplicant.conf to the SD root.) But in most cases the dongle did not illuminate its inner LED, and if it does, the RP was still hanging at the state where the red LED flashes. I even re-installed the same image again onto the SD, but nothing changed.

After this I put the card with the 1.04-18 back, and everything works okay, both with LAN and with WLAN. And there are all the new apps accessable, even Pavel's VNA works with connection and without changing the card.

I have no clue what happened. It seems that the plugging in of the WiFi dongle makes an effect, but there is no proove about it.

Best regards

Dieter

Hello RP,

thank you. Does this mean, that it is a known bug? And with 2.00-30 is it solved already? Or where is it reported that this bug is solved? Is there any version log accessable?

In addition to my report: It is also the case, that not only the function with WiFi dongle is hanging, but the LAN cabled function as well (after the test with WiFi). The other OS with 1.04-18 works fine with all apps that I've been using like DFT spectrum analyzer, Bode analyzer, oscilloscope, oscilloscope and generator, and VNA.

Best regards

Dieter

Hello Dieter,

Try to install Nightly Build version 2.00-232 or higher (the latest is 236). There were some bug fixes to Wi-fi applied there: https://downloads.redpitaya.com/downloa ... NGELOG.txt
https://downloads.redpitaya.com/downloa ... ly_builds/

Do not forget to install the latest 2.04 Linux: https://downloads.redpitaya.com/downloads/LinuxOS/
