What is the type of ext. clock in the extension connector E2

Post by dpal » Wed Jul 19, 2017 9:22 am

Hello All,

I have checked that the 125 MHz crystal that is by default present in the RP Board is LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signalling) type output,
and the measurement of that signal tells me that the frequency is around 125 MHz (fluctuating 10 MHz around that); P2P = 200 - 220 mV;
and Cyc. RMS = 1.3 V.

If I need to give a external clock, then that signal must be also differential. Can you please suggest whether an LVDS chip is already inbuilt
in the board or I need to use a external LVDS chip? Or can I just take an external clock signal from a agilent 33220A back panel and put it directly
in the recommended (ext. clk +) and (ext clk -) pins in the extension connector E2.

Thanks
Debapriya
