Then post a text list of the directories you see.

Think, I got it up & running - have correct LED display.
It seems, I own least two malfunctioning card readers, one PC-builtin and an external one. I went through the whole procedure once again, checking the outcome of each step on my linux PC and a windows laptop, recently upgraded to Win 10. I reactivated an ancient USB 1.1 card reader (took 1.5 hrs to load & verify). After loading red_pitaya...img to the card (under win 10), I recognized two file systems left on it - an msdos fs and a linux fs (think this is the correct configuration).
I'm keen on trying to run something on it now.
All seems to be well in the end. Thank you very much for your help!
