Radio astronomy with Red Pitaya

Good day to you all !

We are playing around with some ideas of introducing the Red Pitaya to pulsar astronomy (observation of pulsed radio signals), these include:

1) Building back-ends with several red pitaya's
2) Coherent signal processing
3) Amateur pulsar astronomy with small telescopes (< 50Hz bandwidth)
4) Pulse analysis techniques on the fly
5) Storage of data + user interfaces

If you are interested and want to add/comment on this thread, please do!

Regards :)

I am adding to the list....For fun thoughts!

6) Aperture array synthesis using small radio telescopes or antennas, I think this is great opportunity to supplement a course such as signal processing for scientists..

Hello All,

I am very interested in getting a red pitaya do pulsar astronomy. Has anyone looked in to this of late? What we need is a mechanism to stream sampled data continuously to a PC either via USB3.0 interface, or with 2x1GbE interfaces. How hard would it be to add a 2nd GbE interface?

Thanks!
