RP functions not working when externally clocked

Post by matankeda » Tue Jul 30, 2024 5:16 pm

Hello,

I am testing out the 2ch externally clocked RedPitaya and having some problems.

Firstly, the RP gets stuck in a boot loop when launching. I am using OS 2.05 and ecosystem-2.00-339-e90e75231. The only way I figured to get out of the boot loop is by deleting the startup.sh file in the sbin folder.
That does appear to fix the boot loop but then none of the RP functions work (I tested with the simple light blinking example). I assume it has to do with /opt/redpitaya/sbin/getsysinfo.sh as when I try to run it after booting, the RP board restarts.........

This seems to be only a problem for the externally clocks RP board.

Am I doing something wrong?

Hello,

The boot loop is no longer an issue. But when my external clock is disconnected all my RP code works perfectly--but once the clock is connected, the RP library functions cause it to crash. What could be wrong?

It is not clear what is connected where.
The board reboots due to a watchdog when the clock does not arrive and the FPGA hangs. I think so.

Most likely, the external clock is not connected, since the inputs are not connected to the FPGA:
