Activate logging in the SCPI Server

Post by alex91 » Mon Aug 29, 2016 1:51 pm

Hello,

At first let me introduce myself. My name is Alexander and I'm from Austria. I study electrical engineering and currently I'm working with the redpitaya :).

At the moment I'm trying to modify the scpi server to add my own commands.

Can someone tell me how to activate the logging in the SCPI-server? e.g. RP_LOG(LOG_NOTICE, "scpi-server started")
Where is the logfile saved?
Is it possible to print the SCPI logs on the console?

thanks in advance,
alex

Hi Alexander,

logging in the scpi-server is dependent on a #define ("#ifdef SCPI_DEBUG" see scpi-server/src/common.h). It seems it has been compiled without that directive, so you can't switch it on without recompiling. If you recompile the scpi-server, you can substitute your desired output channel there, of course. Bear in mind that the scpi-server is usually started through systemd as a daemon, so it doesn't neccessarily have a console to write to.

Hi Nils,

I now added "#define SCPI_DEBUG 1" to common.h.
SCPI logging is now activated in the syslog file!

thank you!

alex,
