Where is the OS directory?

Hi all,
According to my red pitaya web interface, I have ecosystem 0.98-615 installed. This was the version that came with my board. I want to perform an image check to make sure everything is fine. However, when I access the red pitaya in PuTTy, I cannot find the folder OS or any of its subdirectories, ie OS/debian/, etc. Any ideas on where these should be?
Also, what is the point of an ecosystem? How is it different from an OS? When would I need to mess around with the ecosystem?
