reboot by software

Hi,
I am the proud owner of several (actually plenty) redpitaya1.1/stemlab125-14 bought in different batches, all running with exact same SD card image.
On some of them, issuing "reboot" command from linux shell works fine.
On some of them, issuing "reboot" command from linux shell doesn't reboot:
All the processes are halted, then when it's time to physically reboot nothing happens.
I need to power-cycle it.
It is critical to get it working on all platforms for my application.
But since I have different behavior with same SD image, I am puzzled.
Could it be a hardware difference between the stemlab ?
