FPGA programming under Windows

Post by Nitram » Tue Aug 19, 2014 4:20 pm

Hi,

I'm new to the red pitaya, but a bit familiar with FPGA programming. What is the easiest way to program the red pitaya with Xiliny Vivado under Windows. I just want to have a LED shining. I tried a bin bitstream and copied it to the SD card, but with no success.

Thanks,
Martin

Hi Martin,
the easiest way is to use a JTAG adapter.
If you want to do it without additional hardware, you'd need to build a boot.bin file for the µSD, containing a first stage boot loader and your bitstream, and possibly also the u-boot binary.

One of the great Zynq features is also the possibility to reprogram FPGA directly from running OS (Linux) using cat command
as it is described here: http://wiki.redpitaya.com/index.php?tit ... nvironment
