Reinstalling software fail - SOLVED

Post by Grozomah » Fri Oct 10, 2014 11:12 am

Hello!

I recently started my first project on Red Pitaya, and decided to reinstall the software on an already working one, since I wanted an updated system and a clean workspace. I followed the instructions and discovered that i can no longer connect to it.
I observed the action through the USB console and saw the following:

Code: Select all

The way i see it, the problem comes from not being able to open (create?) "../../opt/etc/network/interfaces" .
It is worth mentioning that despite being a similar problem to e.g. this one, this SD card on this RP already used to work. The card is 2 GB FAT 32, as instructed.

Any ideas on how to get this to work?
TL;DR

The problem is that the SD filesystem is not mounted fast enough. A fix for that is already available - just a small loop in the ramdisk image's rcS to wait until /opt is accessible - but no updated ecosystem build has been published yet.

If you build the ecosystem from the current master branch on github, this should no longer occur.

Alternatively, if you are not queasy about installing files that a total stranger linked you on the internet, you could try this build, created this morning from the current HEAD revision. This is provided as is, without any guarantee blablabla... etc. whatsoever. You get the picture. I did run it on my own RP, though.

Apropos picture, I had a good laugh at your tl;dr

Edit: I just noticed that there are now links to archives and development versions of all components under 5. Installing applications.

That was a fast reply!
Due to other obligations I only managed to try your suggestion (and your build) today and it works perfectly!
Thank you very much for your help, much appreciated. :)
