Save data to Computer

Post by DerAstrophysiker » Fri Jul 17, 2015 8:08 am

Hello,

we are currently working with the Red Pitaya by using it as a wave Generator, spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope. Now we'd like to save the data to a USB-Stick or Computer; I've searched the Internet a bit and could not find a satisfying answer. Can this be done via the Sata connectors or IO-Interfaces? Or directly per USB-Stick? If so, is there a piece of code or a Software already in existance which can do this?

Greetings

Hi,

you can connect a USB stick to the Red Pitaya and write data to it. The question is, what data do you want to write, and under which circumstances ?
From what you wrote I'd guess that you'd like to export data from the scope and spectrum analyzer apps. This could be done with some changes to the apps and the bazaar code. Exporting the data on the client side would also be possible with some changes to the apps.

As far as I know there is not yet a ready made solution to this.

Cheers
Nils

PS: The SATA connectors are not SATA interfaces, so connecting a SATA device there will not work and may potentially damage either device.

Hi Nils,

thanks for your quick reply. Basically we want to Export the Graphs of the spectrum analyzer and oscilloscope to the Computer, combined with some sort of numerical data. (Say, if we have a sine graph the Maximum amplitude and the frequency, e.g.)

In that case, we will have to find a way, thank you.

@nils: which version of the Zynq supports SATA connectors?

The required serial transceivers are present in the 7z015, 7z030, 7z035, 7z045, 7z100 and all of the UltraScale+ ZYNQs.

Hey,

right now we are trying to link Eclipse to the Red Pitaya device. For that, we are using this instruction:
http://wiki.redpitaya.com/index.php?tit ... _for_Linux
We followed all of these orders, but when we come to "Select ssh.shells" we cannot click Next, it's greyed out. We are using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and Eclipse 4.5.0. Everything else works up to this point. It's also important to mention that we are in a network; we have to use proxy settings to get by and cannot directly connect the Red Pitaya device to the internet.
If any further information is requested, I will be pleased to answer.

Greetings
