Hello,
Very excited to get started with our RP, embarrassed to admit we're stuck on step 0. We can't find a solution for our problem in the existing posts.
We downloaded the image red_pitaya_OS_v0.94-RC15_12-Oct-2015.img
(note: we've also tried release 19 and have the same problem).
We've had issues connecting via Ethernet so we tried to connect to the RP via USB instead. Ethernet is connected to a router.
Start-up appears successful (verified SD was formatted FAT32, verified directory structure on a Mac prior to inserting SD card into RP), plugged in both Ethernet and USB cables into RP prior to using power plug. Note, power plug is the AC unit that comes pre-packaged, 5V 2A.
We observe the blue and green lights are static after about 30 seconds, red heartbeat is flashing; the "orange" flashes upon bootup but not after that.
When we tried Ethernet, the Ethernet port green light is static on, yellow flashes periodically, even after bootup.
We cannot discover the RP at discover.redpitaya.com.
We cannot ping the device at either 192.168.0.100 or 192.168.0.101.
So as a last resort, we tried communicating directly through USB. Here is the transcript from our terminal on our Mac:
:~kmiyashiro$ ls /dev/cu.*
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port /dev/cu.usbserial-DB00FSJJ
/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Modem
:~kmiyashiro$ screen /dev/cu.usbserial-DB00FSJJ 115200 8N1
When we invoke the command above, the terminal simply hangs. We've tried waiting up to 2 minutes, no difference.
Does anyone have any suggestions for getting past this point?

From your description of the leds etc I conclude that there is nothing wrong with either your Red Pitaya or your boot medium.
If this does not produce anything, try to power-cycle the Red Pitaya while the screen program is running. You should see a lot of output during boot.
The default setting for ethernet is to acquire an ip address via dhcp. Maybe you can find the Red Pitaya in the address table of your router ?We cannot ping the device at either 192.168.0.100 or 192.168.0.101.
If you connect with usb after the device has booted up, there will be no output until you generate something on the client side (ie. press some keys). If you just hit return, you should be prompted to login. When we invoke the command above, the terminal simply hangs. We've tried waiting up to 2 minutes, no difference.

Wow...I feel like such a tool. Went in through USB, hit <CR> a couple of times like you said, and in we go. Sorry for wasting valuable thread space on a lame question, thank you, and off we go!
