Load bin File Permanently

Post by AstroJimX » Sun Aug 07, 2016 5:44 pm

I have been using

Code: Select all

redpitaya> cat /tmp/fpga.bin >/dev/xdevcfg
to upload a bin file to the Red Pitaya. But this logic is lost after reboot. How would I load any logic permanently? (of course saving a backup of the original bin file to avoid crashing issues).

Thank you.

The default bitstream is integrated into the file "boot.bin", together with other components of the bootloader. You could place your bitstream there, but you'd need to adapt the build process a little bit, and rebuild the "boot.bin" target each time you want to change your bitstream.

It is easier to stick with the cat... command and put it somewhere into the scripts that are executed during startup.

edit: In case you are wondering, there is no place to store a bitstream permanently. It is always loaded into the FPGA from somewhere with the help of the CPU.
