Connecting to Router via WiFi with OS 0.96
Hello all,
it seems the instructions for setting up wifi were removed from the quick-start page. Could someone help me by chance set up my RedPitaya for connecting to my router via WiFi? Do I still use a wpa_supplicant.conf file? If so, where do I put it?
Thanks in advance!

This is now handled by the "Network manager" which you can access from your Red Pitaya's main webpage.

Re: Connecting to Router via WiFi with OS 0.96
Hi !
I'm trying to connect my RedPitaya via WiFi. Which mode do I have to choose in the Network manager : the Access Point Mode or the Client Mode ?
With the Client Mode, I achieve to find the Wifi of my smartphone but this does not allow me to do anything.
With the Access Point Mode, I did not achieve to create a access point : after having click on "Create", the new WiFi is not visible from the other devices.
Have I done something wrong ?
Thank you for your help !
Quentin

Re: Connecting to Router via WiFi with OS 0.96
Hi,
As you have described.
Client mode is used when you want to connect your RP to the available
WiFi network. Of course your PC/Tablet also needs to be connected to the same network
in order to access your Red Pitaya and use it.
Access point is used in case when you want to create WiFi network with the Red Pitaya
and then connect to it with your PC/Tablet or Phone.
Just check if you use correct WiFi dongle.
Recommended WIFI USB dongle is Edimax EW7811Un. In general all WIFI USB dongles that use RTL8188CUS chipset should work.
If you would like to find what kind of chipset your WIFI dongle has:
1.) connect to the Red Pitaya via serial USB
2.) Login (user name and password is “root”)
3.) Type lsusb to list attached USB devicesScreen Shot 2015-11-03 at 14.57.24
Best

Thank you for your very quick response and for having made clear the difference between the two WiFi modes.
I finally achieve to connect my computer and my Red Pitaya together with both modes.
Thank you again,
Quentin

Hello,
I also add to struggle a bit to make my RP work with WIFI.
I succeeded by following a step by step setup approach as described in these pages:
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Wi ... management
and https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/WPA_supplicant
I was not lucky with the startup page approach as my wifi key was not recognized by default.
Hope it can help you.

Re: Connecting to Router via WiFi with OS 0.96
I got wifi working after swapping to another dongle, my old Raspberry Pi B wifi dongle did not work, ( a nano) it was not recognised. I swapped to a newer Wifi dongle by TP-LINK and all works fine for me now. I have had my RedPitaya since the beginning of this year. Tonight I upgraded to the 0.96 OS. It was stored away until wifi was available. So more use for me now

Hi !
My WiFi dongle was working fine until today. It does not respond anymore. In the Red Pitaya Network manager, it tells "WiFi dongle disconnected" whereas it is connected in the USB port and whereas it is exactly the recommended WiFi dongle (Edimax, EW7811Un).
Does anyone have an idea why the WiFi suddently stopped to work ?
Thank you for your help !

Have you tried to plug your wifi dongle into any other computer, to see if it still works there? If you do and it doesn't, chances are it's broken.
It's probably also a good idea to check whether the USB socket of your Red Pitaya still works, eg. with a thumbdrive.
