Weird MAC address display on my RP

EDIT: I finally got my board to work. My SD Card was not formatted as FAT16/32, and that was causing all the freeze bugs
Still, the MAC address of my RP still shows as 88-88-88-88-88-88 under 'arp -a' in command prompt. This influences nothing of course, as I managed to setup direct Ethernet communication etc. with the board, but I wonder if this has any impact/limitation in my experience? Is this just a Windows issue or a RP issue?
