Update Operating System?

Red Pitaya currently running Ununtu 16.04.
Are there any plans to update this OS? Installing up-to-date tools (e.g. g++ compilers) is becoming more and more difficuilt.

Can you share some specific issues on our support email?
Also, please make sure to install
manually the latest BETA release.

I would be also very interested to have a default RP image running with, for instance, ubuntu 20.04. For me the motivation is to be able to install recent piece of software (Tango control system) using the package manager.

I second the previous poster's question. Are there plans to put the OS on a more recent basis? A roadmap maybe? Working with an out-of-support python 3.5 is getting rather tedious, what with newer libraries being incompatible with increasing frequency.
