Problem WiFi adapter

I have not been using my Red Pitaya for some years now, but have tried to start from scratch again. I am now stuck with a wi-fi problem, since my adapter EDiMAX EW-7811UN is not recognized by the system, and I don't even know if it is supported or not. The adapter seems to use RTL8188CUS chipset, and it might look like the drivers are missing. From a terminal window I can se the following:

root@rp-f00b29:~# lsusb
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 7392:b811 Edimax Technology Co., Ltd
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
root@rp-f00b29:~# lshw -C network
*-network
description: Ethernet interface
physical id: 2
logical name: eth0
serial: 00:26:32:f0:0b:29
size: 1Gbit/s
capacity: 1Gbit/s
capabilities: ethernet physical tp mii 10bt 10bt-fd 100bt 100bt-fd 1000bt-fd autonegotiation
configuration: autonegotiation=on broadcast=yes driver=macb duplex=full ip=169.254.225.7 link=yes multicast=yes port=MII speed=1Gbit/s

the lshw command hangs a few second displaying USB (and only that) befor it goes on and print what you see on the screen.

Is ther any way to make it work? I have tried running sudo apt update && sudo apt full upgrade -y but nothing chanced.

By the way, the ip address is totally wrong

Best regards

Ulf

Regarding the Wifi usb dongles, please note that the one included with our bundles have been tested and work fine.
Also we received reports that there is a new EDIMAX unit now EW-7811Un that has also a V2 in the name. This new dongle does seem to use a different driver and it is not compatible with the Red pitaya OS at the moment. We are working on it.
