Do you have any recommendations for "cheap" reference voltage sources like the small AD584 modules available in Aliexpress store? Something that can go as low as 0.5V?

Sorry for the late reply.
You should be able to use almost anything (from drone batteries to the one you mentioned from Aliexpress), as long as you have a good Voltmeter/multimeter to then input the correct voltage into the calibration process. Otherwise in the video we modified a voltage source with a resistor divider to produce the lower voltages.
