Difference between Zynq 7010 and 7020

Post by MRsdr » Mon Aug 07, 2023 6:10 pm

Hi,

I have limited experience of Zynq and FPGA programming. I'm considering STEMlab 125-14 for my project. I don't need very high speed ADC or DAC. ~5MHz would be sufficient probably. I need to be able to detect very weak signals, so I think I would go for "low noise" version.

Latency is the challenge in my application. I need to decode received signal from ADC and start transmission within certain time limit. I have about 100us time to reply decoded signal. As I don't have much experience of Zynq/FPGA programming, my first idea would be using "standard" FPGA code and write bare metal C code, which might be sufficient to solve my latency challenge.

Better way is probably to utilize FPGA more by writing custom Verilog code. I just wonder how much there are resources left in Zynq 7010 version? Or should I go directly to Zynq 7020 version?

Best regards,
MR

I don't know how much logic you plan on adding, but more than likely you will be fine using the 7010 based board.

It looks like 7010 should be fine. I'm not sure how much logic I would finally need. I expect I need some IIR/FIR filtering, decimation/interpolation and some kind of clock synchronization logic.
