possible application: gaussmeter

Post by alexxx » Tue Nov 18, 2014 1:44 pm

I'd like to convince the lab I'm working in to buy one to use in an application where a constant reading of a magnetic field is required.
Therefore I'd like to know if it can be used this way.
Can I connect a Hall probe to an analog input of the RedPitaya (with the Hall probe measuring the magnetic field as a voltage level), and connect the RedPitaya to a PC in such a way that it sends the measured voltage value? The PC ideally should get this voltage value from inside a program written in VEE (Keysight, former Agilent: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agilent_VEE)

I don't see why not. Make sure the sensor is linear over the range of flux it will experience.

You could also add a little code to RP so that you can access your 'Gaussmeter' from a web browser and get real time updates.
