Thanks!
btw. I found the cause of the erratic behaviour. It is the nginx web server. Up tp 99% CPU

So the real cause is not found, when I read "after having re-installed ... ". The other analytic responses do not help either. Pity.

Re: release 0.94 Wi-Fi not working anymore
hello Dieter,
what I saw yesterday evening and this morning is that it takes minutes to be seen on the network and then after the blue led starts blinking it takes some more time to connect to the apps, maybe I was not patient enough to wait for the thing to become "alive". With 0.92 it was much faster.
This seems to concur with other posts on 0.94 that it was very slow.
Once it works, it looks stable.
I have not yet found how to get RP to be a WiFi server.
Sorry not to be more specific but I acquired RP to have a portable instrument and have not yet spent any time trying to go into it.

Re: release 0.94 Wi-Fi not working anymore
I am trying to connect my Windows 7 (64bit) by ethernet with RedPitaya without router, I have RP OS version 0.94 Build 396. By loading it says "Failed to start LSB: DHCP server" Any hints what should I do?

For a direct connection without a dhcp server - I assume your computer does not have a dhcp server running - you must configure both machines to use a static ip address. On the Red Pitaya, log in via usb console and edit /etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0 like this:
Then give your computer the static address 192.168.1.1 .
The "LSB..." message is unrelated, I'm seeing this on my happily connected Red Pitaya, too.
Code: Select all
#iface eth0 inet dhcp
iface eth0 inet static
address 192.168.1.100
netmask 255.255.255.0
gateway 192.168.1.1
The "LSB..." message is unrelated, I'm seeing this on my happily connected Red Pitaya, too.

Re: release 0.94 Wi-Fi not working anymore
Hi,
Just a suggestion.
Since the latest Red Pitaya SD card image is based on my Debian based SD card image, I could think of two possible sources of these recent Wi-Fi problems:
Any other ideas?
Cheers,
Pavel
Just a suggestion.
Since the latest Red Pitaya SD card image is based on my Debian based SD card image, I could think of two possible sources of these recent Wi-Fi problems:
- I missed something when working on the Wi-Fi configuration for my Debian based SD card image
- Red Pitaya developers missed something when porting my Wi-Fi configuration to the latest Red Pitaya SD card image
- test Wi-Fi with my Debian based SD card image (some details about this image can be found at this link),
- post the results (Wi-Fi adapter model, works or not) on this forum thread,
- if Wi-Fi repeatedly doesn't work with my Debian based SD card image, I'll try to fix it,
- if Wi-Fi works with my Debian based SD card image, I'll try to compare my Wi-Fi configuration with the latest Red Pitaya Wi-Fi configuration.
- TP-LINK TL-WN725N V1 (Realtek RTL8188CUS chipset)
- Wi-Pi, Wi-Fi for Raspberry Pi (MediaTek/Ralink RT5370 chipset)
Any other ideas?
Cheers,
Pavel

Re: release 0.94 Wi-Fi not working anymore
The "Failed to start LSB: DHCP server" error message is harmless. This message appears when no Wi-Fi adapter is connected to Red Pitaya and the access point services can't be started. Once you plug a Wi-Fi adapter, the access point services will be restarted automatically.evpator wrote:By loading it says "Failed to start LSB: DHCP server" Any hints what should I do?
If you don't need the Wi-Fi access point functionality, then you can safely ignore this error message.

Re: release 0.94 Wi-Fi not working anymore
Typing /etc/network/interfaces.d/eth0 in USB console (Putty) gives message "Permission is denied"
But on SD card I modified file: interfaces in a way, which you (Nils Roos) proposed. When I start RedP again i see no effect. ifconfig show no IPv4 address. The second string of the output message is "UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1"
The Ethernet lights are blinking on both Ethernet ports (PC and RP), but PC network Status show that Received bytes 0. When I ping 192.168.1.101 (by console) I got message "connect: Network is unreachable". I am not specialist in networks but for me it looks like redP can not assign proper IP for communication or network services are working improperly... I tried also interfaces with DHCP configuration and DHCP turned on on PC the result is the same. Also today I found new build 412 of V0.94 system from 1 October Behavior the same - i could not establish Ethernet connection with PC. Get really lost with it.... any helpfull comments or ideas?
