Arbitrary waveform generator- Trigger outputs

Hi,
Does anybody know of a way of getting TTL outputs linked to the state of the waveform generator?
I'm using scpi and labview and need the RP to control a transmit / receive switch (TTL line) whilst generating an arbitrary signal. All of this is going on in the MHz region so we are talking sub microsecond control.
One option I am considering is to look at the awg firmware and see if I can use 16 bit data with bits 1 and 0 being used to drive the ttl outputs.
Any thoughts / pointers / solutions would be very much appreciated.
