How to tell Red Pitayas appart?

We have deployed a few dozen Red Pitayas, and we have a mix of 125-14 and 125-14 LN. How we can tall them apart, both visually and programmatically?

Visually, you can identify the difference between STEMlab 125-14 and STEMlab 125-14 LN by:
- Checking the label on the ethernet connector (the Low Noise version has "redpitaya STEMlab 125-14 LN" written on it, while normal STEMlab has "red pitaya" in the same place)
- The low-noise version has this component populated (bottom side near OUT1 connector): https://imgur.com/a/WZRXyW5

Programmatically, you can tell the boards apart by their ID number, here is a GitHub link to the C API functions working with the ID numbers:
- https://github.com/RedPitaya/RedPitaya/ ... profiles.h The low noise version had ID = 5, while normal STEMlab can have 0, 1, or 2 depending on how old the board is.

With OS versions 2.00 and above you can also use the Board Control command table to get the Board name and ID. Please check in which OS the commands were released, so as not to run into issues (1.04-18 means the command existed before the 1.04-18 version).

The visual difference applies to all boards, while the difference from the program point of view applies to the official Red Pitaya OS.

Otherwise, the board model is stored in the EEPROM (in the hardware revision number), which you can read with the:

fw_printenv -n hw_rev

This is true for all Red Pitaya boards regardless of the OS, unless the EEPROM gets corrupted that is.

Thank you for the detailed response. I checked that there's an LDVM chip on the LN boards indeed. By the way, the latest LN batch we just got from Mouser, USA does not have 'LN' on the stickers, but some earlier bought LN boards do.
