REDPITAYA-mcs programming

Post by Abinaya » Fri Apr 20, 2018 2:18 pm

Hello,
I need to program my redpitaya with mcs file. I am using xc7z010clg100-1 part.
Is there any QSPI available? i want to run SDK appliction(elf) on that. how to do this?

Thanks

I assume you are using Vivado and SDK for this purpose.

One option is to create a bit file with vivado, copy it to RP then load it to the FPGA.

to load the image connect to the RP (console or putty on windows) change directory to where you copied the file to and run the following command, replacing the file_name with your file name:
cat file_name.bit > /dev/xdevcfg

Alternatively you can connect to RP using the JTAG connection, for that you'll need a JTAG-USB cable e.g. JTAG-USB from Digilent . Connect it to JTAG ports next to ETH port on RP.
Now you can program FPGA directly from vivado or SDK.

Thanks for your response.
I need to dump the program permanently. Can I use SD card? so that it can boot it from SD card.
How to do this?

Hi,

if you follow the first example then you already have the bit file copied to the SD card, it's not going anywhere.

Then just add the following lines to the end of the .bashrc file. Replace the file_name with your file name and path_to_bit_file with the path of where you copied the bit file to (on SD card).

Code: Select all

cd path_to_bit_file
cat file_name.bit > /dev/xdevcfg

I have created the BOOT.bin file from SDK using the following files
1.FSBL.elf
2.design.bit
3.hello world.elf
I copied this bin file into SD card,
I expect that whenever we switch it ON it should start running our application and we should get print statements on Tera terminal.
But in this case i am not getting anything printed on tera term. Is it the correct way to do this or am I missing something?

And i have one more doubt. Is there any QSPI flash programming option in Redpitaya?

Thanks

Oh I see you need much more details.
I highly recommend reading the following tutorial.

This should clear up some things.
